The mission of the NAHCC Foundation is to foster cultural appreciation, educational, social and economic advancement, and business success. And to create access to higher education and entrepreneurial opportunities for our growing youth and adult Hispanic populations in Tennessee.
NAHCC Foundation - History
The NAHCC Foundation was founded in 2008 with the vision to become the bridge for business success and economic advancement and governed by a mission to create access to higher education and entrepreneurial opportunities for our youth and adults in Tennessee
Additionally the NAHCC Foundation offers educational programs, award scholarships and provide entrepreneurship training and mentoring through our Latino Youth Entrepreneurship Program.
The Foundation is governed by its own board of directors.
Scholarship Program: Application and criteria
The Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Foundation scholarships are available to students who will be attending any accredited university, college or vocational/trade school located in the state of Tennessee. This is a one time, annual scholarship. The full amount awarded will be dispersed to the student's school at the beginning of the 2011 school year. Applicants must meet the following criteria in order to apply:
1.Be a graduating high school/charter school senior from any Tennessee school and/or be a high school graduate that has graduated within the last year and/or be a former recipient of a NAHCC Foundation Scholarship award from the previous year and is reapplying for scholarship renewal. Winners who are freshmen attending a credited university, college or vocational/trade school may reapply for consideration for the following year’s NAHCC Foundation Scholarship.
2.Have a Hispanic heritage background with a family/community connection to culture and traditions
3.Possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (or 3.5 if reapplying)
Scholarships start at $1,000 based on financial need. All decisions regarding scholarship awards are made by the scholarship selection committee appointed by the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Scholarships Committee. Applicants are evaluated on both quantitative and subjective criteria including academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, financial need and student essays. Scholarships will be awarded at the discretion of the Scholarships Committee and contingent upon verification of graduation. All decisions are final.
